Before Dealer Backstock, B2B RV wholesale trading relied on local sourcing models like fax workflows and auction houses. Dealerships suffered from narrow geographic visibility, which trapped aging inventory on their lots, incurred high carrying costs, and forced them into slow communication pipelines.

Result

I designed a marketplace that opened trading channels across the US and Canada. To optimize inventory management, I created an interactive dashboard featuring filtering for specialized RV attributes, a progressive, multi-location verification flow to establish buyer-seller trust, and a real-time push notification system to surface inventory matching specific lot criteria.

Solution

The platform bypasses third-party auction houses, allowing independent dealerships to trade inventory autonomously and retain 100% of their margins. Sourcing workflows are accelerated, clearing units off the lot significantly faster and creating a scalable network praised by RV dealers for its simplicity, direct communication, and elimination of transaction fees.

Challenge

Taming Complex Automotive Data Logistics

Dealer Backstock is a B2B SaaS platform built to optimize how automotive dealerships manage overstock, trade-ins, and wholesale vehicle tracking. In the automotive enterprise space, inventory managers operate under tight time constraints, cross-referencing massive data sets, VIN logistics, and financial variables simultaneously. As the founding Lead Product Designer, my challenge was to take an intricate, fragmented manual workflow and transform it into a high-performance web application. The core objective was to design a highly dense, scalable dashboard architecture that accelerates inventory turnover while keeping engineering implementation perfectly aligned.

Designing for High-Density Enterprise Operations

Automotive inventory managers do not need lifestyle imagery or spacious marketing layouts; they need data density and speed. The application handles an extreme amount of metadata per vehicle asset including 17-digit VIN profiles, mileage tiers, damage reports, auction valuations, and internal dealership aging metrics.

The Multi-State Inventory Control Center

The functional core of the Backstock experience is the unified vehicle control panel. Traditional automotive software fragments inventory actions across multiple browser tabs, causing significant operational lag and data discrepancies during fast-paced trading windows.

Optimizing the Appraisal & Trade-In Flow

Because a mistake in vehicle appraisal directly impacts dealership margins, the valuation data entry flow had to be completely foolproof yet highly accelerated. If a user inputs wrong trim information or misses a condition variable, the automatic wholesale valuation logic yields inaccurate numbers.

A Rigorous B2B Component System for Rapid Handoff

To ensure absolute design-to-production fidelity across complex data views, I built a modular component library from the ground up. The design language utilizes a crisp, dark-mode-first aesthetic optimized for indoor dealership service desks and finance offices, minimizing screen glare and eye fatigue during long shifts.

By replacing outdated, fragmented spreadsheets with a unified, high-density dashboard architecture, Dealer Backstock transformed how dealerships manage wholesale inventory. The intuitive 3-pane workspace engine and rapid data-entry flows eliminated operational bottlenecks and data tracking errors. This robust design system allowed the platform to scale its enterprise feature set seamlessly, empowering inventory managers to move vehicles faster and protect their operational margins with absolute visual and functional clarity.
